90 points, Cigar Aficionado
The Oliva Serie V Double Toro is a commanding large-format vitola within the iconic Serie V collection, engineered to express full-bodied Nicaraguan intensity with exceptional smoothness. Measuring 6 inches with an impressive 60 ring gauge, this Double Toro (Gordo) format houses a substantial quantity of aged Jalapa Valley Ligero filler tobaccos. The broader girth cools the draw and expands the smoke volume, allowing complex layers of dark chocolate, espresso, and warm spice to unfold effortlessly without overheating the palate.
The structural and tobacco specifications of this exact vitola are masterfully calculated to deliver a slow, cool burn and generous, velvety smoke output across a 70-to-90-minute tasting session. Encased in an oily, sun-grown Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, the cigar utilises a sturdy Nicaraguan binder to enclose an interior core of aged Nicaraguan Jalapa Valley Ligero long-fillers. Hand-rolled by elite torcedores at the TABOLISA factory in Estelí, this 6″ x 60 Double Toro format guarantees high structural integrity, an effortless draw, a sharp burn line, and an evolving succession of bold, refined flavours.
