The Línea de Oro is Romeo y Julieta's super-premium tier, positioned within the Habanos portfolio much the way Behike sits above the core Cohiba line, and introduced at the XXII Festival del Habano in 2020 to mark the brand's 145th anniversary. The Hidalgos is the shortest and thickest of the three Línea de Oro vitolas, measuring 4 7/8" x 57 and dressed in ornate gold foil bands that make the presentation as memorable as the smoke itself. Built entirely from the finest Vuelta Abajo tobacco, this is a cigar that signals a special occasion before it is even lit.
The medium to full strength profile steps beyond the classic Romeo y Julieta character, opening with an extraordinary burst of caramel and buttery shortbread before evolving into deeper, more complex territory. Cedar, toasted nuts, and earth carry through the middle, with leather, tropical fruit, and rich creamy undercurrents rounding out a finish that is long, refined, and genuinely hard to put down. At around 75 minutes of smoke time, the Hidalgos delivers every bit of the luxury its presentation promises.
